Availability of parking
How easy is it to find somewhere to park in the Sharrow Vale Road area now that the permit parking scheme has started there?
Are more people able to use the available parking spaces?
A survey of how the Sharrow Vale Road parking is being used was carried out in December 2007 with the following results.
1) Numbers of cars able to use spaces has increased in many locations as a result of fewer people parking for long periods of time.
- Twice as many cars have been able to park at the section of Sharrow Vale Road between the school and Cowlishaw Road.
- The section of Sharrow Vale Road between Hunters Bar and the school has also had a high turnover of cars.
- Where the time that someone stays is recorded, more people are staying for shorter lengths of time (up to around an hour)
2) Illegal parking in the area has reduced
3) The area is still busy but spaces are generally available
4) Overall people are more likely to be able to find a parking space in the area. This includes Ecclesall Road, Hickmott Road and Sharrow Vale Road
