Parking Permit Application
As someone wishing to obtain a parking permit in one of the permit parking schemes in Sheffield you need to complete an application form after reading the terms and conditions. Download these from the bottom of this page.
Residents and businesses are asked to apply for permits as soon as possible. This will help us to ensure that permits are sent out to you either before a scheme is made operational or in the case of existing scheme without delay.
How we decide who gets a permit varies across the permit parking scheme areas. Each scheme focuses on the individual requirements of that area, with the allocations of permits based on individual scheme criteria.
Permit costs

Business Permits
Each business will be entitled to apply for one permit, costing £20. If you feel you will need additional permits, these may be available subject to various conditions.
As a first step, you will need to download and complete the form available at the bottom of this page and send it back to us. We will then assess your request and provide you with a response in due course. The sooner you do this the better, as we will be able to assess your request in advance of the scheme becoming operational.

Special Permits
The 'special' permits are only intended for use by official carer or medical organisations and agencies. If you feel your organisation provides a caring function to the community please submit a letter on headed paper. Explain your organisation's operation, how many permits you require and why you require this type of permit.
Send the letter to Travel Plans, Sheffield City Council, Development Services, Howden House, Union Street, Sheffield S1 2SH.
Trade Permits
These are only intended for purchase by landlords or registered companies who work regularly in the area, e.g. BT, builders and Sheffield Homes. They are not available to individuals to purchase for one-off jobs, such as decorating a resident's house or doing a bit of maintenance at a student house on behalf of the landlord. They would be expected to use visitor permits provided by the resident or trade permits purchased by the landlord.
All requests by companies, agencies etc. have to be in writing on business-headed paper or by purchase order. Landlords should provide proof of ownership of the properties.
For more information on parking permits, call Parking Services on 0114 273 5469.
