Who we are and what we do
Parking Services is the part of Street Force that is responsible for controlling parking in Sheffield. This includes parking bays on the highway (when payment is needed), and in the Council's car parks.
From the 4th April 2005, the Council took over the enforcement of parking regulations.
What was formally the job of the Police and their Traffic Wardens is now the Council’s responsibility.
On the Highway...
We enforce parking regulations to make sure that on street parking spaces are available for visitors, shops, businesses, local facilities and residents and that public transport can run smoothly and safely.
In the Council's public car parks...
We aim to improve safety, security and the environment. We are working to obtain the Park Mark ® Safer Parking award. This award is granted to parking areas that have achieved the requirements of a risk assessment as conducted by the Police. These requirements mean the parking operator has put in place measures that help to deter criminal activity and anti-social behaviour. We aim to limit all day parking. All of our charges are in line with the Council's policy of protecting our environment by encouraging the use of other types of transport e.g. walking, cycling and public transport.
The Parking Services team maintain ticket machines as well as the signs and infrastructure of on and off-street car parking to make sure parking bays are always available and safe to use.
The team also aims to handle all enquiries in a courteous and helpful manner and respond to all written representations about penalty charge notices.

We issue permits and enforce parking regulations for the Residents' Parking Schemes.
