Parking

Our parking facilities are used everyday by thousands of people coming to work, shopping or visiting Sheffield. The following pages should give you all the information you need regarding parking in Sheffield.

City Centre Car Parking

If you are bringing your car into the city then these pages will assist you in finding a suitable parking space for your needs. They give the locations and information of both Council and privately operated off street parking and on street parking.

Disabled Person’s Parking

We provide a number of parking spaces around the city for blue badge holders. This page provides information regarding their location. For more information about the blue badge scheme visit the Government site or see Help with Travel.
Shopmobility is a registered charity which provides wheelchairs and scooters to help anyone who has a mobility impairment to get around the city

Park & Ride

Several Park & Ride sites currently operate in Sheffield. They allow you to make part of your journey by car, park in secure car parks and complete your journey into the city centre by public transport.  The Travel South Yorkshire pages give further information.

Green Parking Scheme

A permit to allow free parking in city centre Council parking spaces is available as part of the Green Parking Scheme. These pages explain who is eligible for the scheme, and how you can apply.

Penalty Charge Notice (PCN)

The Council may issue motorists who fail to comply with any Traffic Regulation Order (TRO) with a Penalty Charge Notice (PCN). These pages give guidance on where you can and can’t park and information on how you can pay or challenge a PCN.

Permit Parking Schemes

There are a number of Permit Parking Zones within the City. If you live or own a business in one of these areas you may need a parking permit to allow you to park on the road. These pages give you information on permit parking areas, parking permits and how to apply. A parking permit does not guarantee a parking space.

Civil Parking Enforcement

In 2005 the contravention of parking regulations within the City became a civil offence rather than a criminal one and the responsibility for enforcement passed from the Police and their Traffic Wardens to the Council. These pages give you more information.

Motor Cycle Parking

Parking facilities are available on street in specially marked bays and in many of the Council operated car parks.  Further information can be found on this page.

Cycle Parking

The Council is committed to improving facilities for cyclists.  You can download a plan of cycle parking facilities provided around the City from this page.

Dropped Kerbs (Vehicular Crossings)

If you want to construct a new vehicular access (also called a 'dropped crossing') to your property, you need permission from the Highway Authority to do so.  These pages give you information the conditions needed and how to apply for permission.

Parking Standards and Guidelines for New Developments

To assist developers, the Council has published a series of information sheets; some of which give advice regarding parking matters. They can be downloaded from the Information Sheets page.
