Fly Posters
Posters of any type which are attached to property without permission are classed as fly-posters.
Private property owners are responsible for removing posters from their own buildings. The Council will only remove fly-posting with the property owner's permission. If this is given and cleaning fees paid (where appropriate), posters will be removed using high-pressure water jetting equipment.
Fly-posters that are offensive should be reported to the Contact Centre (0114) 273 4567 and they will be removed within 24 hours. Posters stuck on property owned by Sheffield City Council will be removed by the Street Cleaning section on one of their regular inspections of the area.
We will also remove the tie-on type of poster from railings, street furniture, traffic lights, etc. but only on our routine inspections.
Any fly-posters that are larger than A4 will be retained at Olive Grove Depot for one month. Owners can call and collect them if they wish. After one month the poster will be destroyed.
Enquiries as to the legalities of posters, the nature and content or legal action should be directed to the Directorate of Development, Environment & Leisure Services (DEL) - Planning, Transport and Highways (PTH).
