Street Force - Consultation & Surveys
Street Force regularly undertakes public consultation and customer surveys to obtain views on the services we provide.
All the feedback we receive helps to inform future service plans.
Recent surveys include:
- The Annual Household Survey for 2006
The City Council annual household survey asked residents how satisfied they are with the street services (lighting, grassed areas, street cleaning of roads and footpaths etc) we provide.Since 2003 customer satisfaction levels with the services we provide have increased:
litter removal (+17.9% to 42.9%) maintenance of grassed areas (+16.3% to 58.3%) street lighting (+2.3% to 60.3%) condition of roads (+5.3% to only 22.3%) condition of paths (5.9% to 33.9%)Current available investment for roads and footways is insufficient to improve the condition from the poor level indicated by these customer satisfaction levels and our own road condition surveys. To try and put these matters right the Council has recently submitted an Expression of Interest to the Department for Transport for a PFI (Public Finance Initiative) in order to obtain funding that can be spent to improve the roads and paths in Sheffield.
- Highway Improvement Scheme Questionnaires
To assist us in maintaining and improving our standards we are keen to obtain feedback regarding highway improvement schemes we have carried out. This feedback and comments about our performance (e.g. quality of finished work, the information we provided about the work, how we minimised disruption and noise etc) enables us to improve future schemes that we undertake. We do this by sending out questionnaires to residents and businesses affected by the scheme. For each category listed in the table below we asked residents and businesses to indicate their level of satisfaction with our performance.Where a score of 1 = Poor, 5 = Acceptable and 10 = Excellent. The average customer response score from two Highway Improvement Schemes are shown below:
Sandygate Road (Manchester Road to Watt Lane) Ecclesall Road South(Abbey Lane to Knowle Lane) When completed: April 2007 May 2007 Questionnaires issued: 75 130 Questionnaires returned: 41 54 Response rate: 55% 42% Category Minimisation of disruption 5.4 6.5 Minimisation of noise 5.7 6.6 Dealing with your requests 5.7 7.4 Maintenance of pedestrian/ vehicle access 6.3 6.8 General tidiness of site 6.3 6.9 Progress of the works 5.5 5.9 Quality of finished product 8.2 8.2 Information supplied before and during works 6.0 6.5 Average score for all categories 6.1 6.9
- Focus Group - Are Sheffield’s streets clean?
Along with satisfaction surveys and other questionnaires we also conduct focus groups to try and understand the public’s perception of the services we provide. The aim of this focus group was to try and find out how the public’s perception of a clean street was arrived at, and how they would like to be communicated with.
