Experienced Cyclists

These pages are aimed at people who regularly cycle but would like to find out more about cycling in Sheffield, as well as providing up to date information about future cycling events and developments.

Developing the Network

If you cycle in Sheffield frequently you will probably have chosen your own routes and be confident about cycling in the city. The contributions of local cyclists are invaluable in developing the cycle network. The City Council and interested members of the public are involved in the Cycle Forum which allows cyclists to contribute to transport schemes developed by the council.

The Cycle Policy page provides detail about the development of the cycle network in Sheffield

Cycle Routes and Cycle Parking

The cycle network is growing every year and so is the number of people cycling. Cycle parking is also increasing throughout the city and is well used.

The City Council is working with the large number of new developments to provide enhanced cycling and walking links as integral parts of developments. These routes often provide alternative routes to busy parallel roads.

You can find more information on Cycle Parking here.

To provide feedback on either cycle routes or cycle parking please fill in our feedback form on the Cycling page.

Reporting Problems

There may be locations where you know improvements need to be made to the existing network. Follow this link to Streetforce to report any problems on the highway.

Cycling Events

To encourage cycling the City Council and local cycling groups hold cycling events throughout the year. You can check the Events page for current events.

If you are organising any events and would like to publicise them please contact transport@sheffield.gov.uk.

How You Can Help

If you are a regular cyclist it may be that you can offer help to colleagues and friends who would like to start cycling. Help may simply be helping someone to check out a bike or helping to mend a puncture, or cycling a route with someone new to cycling in the city.
