Child Cycle Training

Cycle training is offered to children in Year 6 of school (aged 9).  The Council offers cycle training for children at schools but also as a weekend event.  Saturday morning sessions can be booked through the Council's Road Safety Team.

See the road safety child cycle training page for more information.

There is now a National Standard for Cycle Training offering children the opportunity for training at 3 stages during their time at school.  More information about the National Standard is available on the cycle training uk website.

If your child has or will be having cycle training it may be that you want to go out with them to help practice what they have learnt. There are some off road routes you can use to go out for a family ride at the weekend.  The Trans Pennine Trail offers some useful leisure routes.  For more information see the Getting around page.
