Cycling, Walking and Public Rights Of Way
The following are sections about cycling and walking in the city.
- Cycling – information about cycling in Sheffield. Pages include our Beginners Guide, Cycle Training and the Sheffield Cycle Map.
- Public Rights of Way – information relating to rural footpaths, bridleways and byways.
- Walking – general information on walking including details of the Sheffield Walking Map.
The 2001 census indicates that 10% of people in Sheffield walk to work, which equates to over 22,000 daily work journeys. This has remained constant over the last decade compared to a national decline. We need to ensure that the number of people walking remains stable or increases. We have also seen annual growths in cycling to the city centre. As Sheffield is a gateway to the Peak District, it is the perfect place to consider walking and cycling for both work and leisure trips. We also have many delights to discover in the city!
