Disability Design Guidance

- Disability Design Standards (dDS)
A series of separate sheets that cover the key access standards ranging from car parking to ramps, means of escape to cash machines, as well as the design of reception areas and the types of communication systems that buildings might use.Three other key policy documents can also be downloaded at the bottom of this page.
- Accessible Environment Strategy
This document describes key physical access design principles, giving an overview of the relevant issues.
- City Council's Access Policy
The corporate access policy that sets out the key principles by which the council will seek to approach its own buildings and offer guidance to others on meeting the physical access needs of disabled people.
- Social Model of Disability
This document sets out how the Council approaches the concept of disability and the way it seeks to treat disabled people.
