Sheffield Development Framework
A local development framework is being created to form a portfolio of local development documents. These documents collectively deliver the spatial planning strategy for the local planning authority’s area.
In Sheffield, the Sheffield Development Framework (SDF) is the City’s portfolio of local development documents, collectively covering the whole of the Sheffield District except for the area in the Peak Park. Once adopted, the SDF documents will gradually replace the Unitary Development Plan (UDP).
The documents in the SDF are:
- the Local Development Scheme has been revised (February 2009). It sets out what documents will be prepared up to 2013
- Core Strategy, containing strategic planning policies
- City Policies and Sites document, containing development management policies, identifying policy areas, specific site allocations and other area-specific proposals
- Proposals Map, illustrating the policies and sites
- Statement of Community Involvement, setting out how communities and stakeholders will be involved in the preparation of the SDF and how they are consulted on planning applications
- SDF Annual Monitoring Report
- Supplementary Planning Documents for a range of topics
- Area Action Plans for parts of the city to be identified in a future version of the Local Development Scheme.
