New Retail Quarter (Sevenstone)
Welcome to the New Retail Quarter.
Three more major planning applications were submitted to us in July 2008. They are:
- 08/03377/REM - This application provides full details of the building proposed for Block 4 which is bounded by Pinstone Street, Cambridge Street and Cross Burgess Street. Approval is being sought for the design and appearance of this building.
- 08/03391/REM - This application is for the alterations and extensions proposed to the retained buildings at 18-42 Pinstone Street (Block B) in order for it to be used as shop units with 36 apartments above.
- 08/03290/FUL - Proposes an alternative for Block B involving the retention of the important facade to Pinstone Street, but re-constructing the remainder of the building to create a 79 bedroom hotel and ground floor retail units. The design also includes a two storey mansard roof.
The first two applications seeking approval to the design and appearance of the individual blocks were submitted to the Council on the 4th April 2008. These were applications for the new John Lewis department store (08/01870/REM), Block 7, and the multi-storey car park (08/01782/REM), Block 8.
The applications can be viewed in person at First Point, Howden House, 1 Union Street, or by using Planning Applications Online. Any written representations should be sent to Development Services, Howden House, 1 Union Street, Sheffield, S1 2SH, marked for the attention of Chris Megson; they should be submitted before 19th September 2008.
In August 2006 the Council in their role as local planning authority, resolved to grant outline planning permission subject to the signing of a legal agreement with the applicant. Following the completion of the agreement the decision notice granting permission was issued on 6th November 2006. Reserved matters applications providing full detail of the individual blocks will be submitted during 2008.
