The Manor and City Road corridor

The Manor

The Manor lies on north-facing slopes about a mile to the south-east of Sheffield city centre. The Council built most of the housing in the neighbourhood in the 1920s and 1930s, with a second phase of building taking place in the 1950s.

However, a number of areas were cleared in the 1980s and subsequently re-built with Council and Housing Association properties. Many remaining vacant sites have been taken up by new-build private sector housing with new developments contributing to improving the sustainability of the area.

City Road corridor

The City Road corridor forms one of Sheffield’s main arteries to the city centre and, via the ring road and the Parkway, provides good access to other parts of the City.  Running alongside a number of areas, including the Manor itself, City Road offers a mix of housing and services and has the potential to link a number of communities together. Situated at the top of City Road is Manor Top, a well-used service centre that contains a traditional parade of shops.
