Forward and Area Planning
The Forward and Area Planning Team is responsible for preparing the new Sheffield Development Framework and the Statement of Community Involvement. We also advise on the use and development of land and buildings, including interpretation of the Unitary Development Plan (adopted in 1998). Forward and Area Planning provides the primary link between the Planning service and the Council’s Area Panels.
Within Forward and Area Planning, a specific Housing Market Renewal (HMR) Team provides a planning and design service to support the City’s HMR Pathfinder. The Team commissions and produces Masterplans and Background Reports and the Sheffield Developer Manual for HMR sites and works with the HMR Developer and Designer Panels. The Team works closely with the City’s Neighbourhoods and Community Care service to create attractive, safe and sustainable neighbourhoods.
