Equalities Monitoring Return
The monitoring of planning applications is designed to make sure the Council does not adversely affect Sheffield's many minority communities. By completing this form for the main contact person for the application you will be helping us to improve the way the planning system operates for everyone who uses it regardless of his or her background.
Every year the Planning Service analyses the impact of it’s application decisions using these monitoring returns and the results have led to a number of service improvements. For example black applicants experience twice the refusal rate of white applicants and, because this appears to relate to the poor quality of some applications, guidance on using and selecting agents and on hot food shops has been improved, targeting known problem areas. There has been a reduction in refusal rates for hot food shops since, so hopefully the guidance is proving useful.
