3D Model and/or Computer Based Representations
Models and computer representations can be very useful for large schemes, sensitive sites or where it is particularly important to demonstrate how a scheme fits into its context.
The Planning Service has an electronic 3d model of a large area of Sheffield which allows us to import models of schemes and view them from different points around the city. This enables planning officers, Councillors and local communities to better assess the impact larger developments can have on their surroundings. The model has proved invaluable at the pre-application phase in establishing what heights, scale and massing may be acceptable before detailed designs and an application are submitted.
The Planning Service may request a computer representation of any large or sensitive scheme that falls within the boundary of the model. Having received the model, we will then be able to produce images of the scheme from key views across the city which can be used as part of the application.
The attachments below show the boundary of the model, details of how to provide a computer representation and also how the model can be used to help revise building designs.
