Sheffield 3D Model Service

A view of Sheffield from the electronic 3D Model
The Sheffield 3D Model was created in 2006/2007, as an integral part of the Planning Service.

A principle use of the model has been focused around advising on Urban design issues on major Planning Applications as well as major regeneration schemes.  The 3D model is based on a set of aerial photographs, and is topographically accurate.

3D views have proved invaluable at the pre-application phase in establishing what heights, scale and massing may be acceptable before detailed designs and an application are submitted.  The models are also very useful for large schemes, sensitive sites or where it is particularly important to demonstrate how a scheme fits into its context.

We can build a model for you, or insert one that you may have already created.  We will then be able to produce images of the scheme from key views across the city which can then be used as part of your planning application.  As well as producing images, we can also create fly throughs and sun studies of a site.

The attachments below show the boundary of the model, details of how to provide a computer representation, the charging scheme and also how the model can be used to help revise building designs.
