About the Parks and Countryside Service

Sheffield’s Parks and Countryside’s service is responsible for the management, maintenance and development of Sheffield’s parks and recreational green spaces.

Parks

We manage 13 city parks, 20 district parks and 50 local parks across Sheffield. You can find your local park by looking at our ‘Parks & green spaces’ page.

Gardens

We are developing an international reputation for horticultural excellence. This growing success is thanks to our beautiful gardens and floral displays at:

  • Sheffield Botanical Gardens
  • Hillsborough Walled Garden
  • Peace Gardens
  • Winter Gardens

Trees and woodlands in Sheffield

Sheffield boasts some of the finest tree cover, woodlands and countryside in Britain with a third of the city lying in the Peak District National Park, and more woodland cover (over 10%) than any other city in the country as well as over 2 million trees. For further information please see our ‘Trees & Woodland Strategy’.

We ensure the trees are safe and do not cause a hazard to the public.

If you would like to ask our team a question, provide feedback or report a concern please contact us.

Sponsor a tree in a park

We run a scheme for residents to sponsor trees in parks. We now call these Celebration Trees, as they can be used to celebrate the life of a loved one or to mark an anniversary or as a lovely gift.

This scheme is managed by the Trees for Streets charity.
