Pair of Old Sheffield Plate Wine Coolers
The moulded globular body having a reeded band with raised grape and vine leaf motif beneath the lips. Below, a broad embossed gadroon girdle, with raised and applied masks of 'Bacchus', the god of wine, crowned with leaves and grapes. The scrolled and reeded handles with leaf decoration and supported on the legs of 'Bacchus', capped with acanthus leaves. The coolers have loose linings.
 

 Inscription:


"A gift to the Corporation of the City of Sheffield from Samuel Osborn, Lord Mayor, 1912 - 13."
