A Magnificent Silver Presentation Cup and Cover

The hand raised body with beaded mounts, girdled with chased foliate bands on a matt ground and below, enriched with deeply chased double "C" scrolls, with an all-over design of foliate meander. Three large looped cast handles, finely wrought and supported on a pedestal foot, with fanned, ribbed and nulled decoration. The domed cover similarly embellished, is surmounted by a fruiting finial. The interior of both Cup and Cover, overlaid with burnished gold.
Inscription:
"This Cup was given at Christmas, 1899, to the Lord Mayor, Aldermen and Citizens of Sheffield, by Sir Henry Watson, J.P., D.L., Shirecliffe Hall. Samuel Roberts, Esq., M.A., J.P., Lord Mayor."
