A Set of Three Handsome Silver Epergnes

The centre piece with a cast and pierced bowl to contain a circular cut and moulded dish of Crystal glass, with fan fluting, 31cm diameter. Below are three scroll branches capped with acanthus leaf and supporting cast chased nozzles and tied to the centres with looped garlands to form a three-branch Candelabra. The central pillar sheathed with spreading palmette and applied cast silver cranes, is supported on large outward scrolls capped with hanging festoons tied to a cartouche. Upon each scroll is perched a cast and chased eagle with spread wings, and the whole is supported on a shaped, moulded trifid base with chased foliate decoration. Furnished with a circular 'E.P.' base, having beaded mounts and shaped feet (mirror inset). Two side Epergnes, with circular glass bowls to match centre bowl, 20cm diameter, with similar decoration.

"Presented to the Corporation of Sheffield by Alderman Robert Styring, LL.D., J.P., in commemoration of the conferment on him of the Honorary Freedom of the City, 30th July, 1924."
