Steam Room at SPA 1877
For the latest in pure relaxation after a hard day exploring the Sheffield sights why not visit SPA 1877. Housed in one of Sheffield’s major Victorian landmark buildings - the former Glossop Road Baths, SPA 1877 aims to re-capture the traditional Turkish Bath experience and provide first class health, beauty and hair treatments.

The original baths were built in 1836 for medicinal purposes and were the first public baths in the city. It wasn’t until 1877 that two swimming baths, a hairdresser’s shop and the nationally acclaimed Turkish Baths were opened and were observed as ‘the finest in the kingdom’. This is where SPA 1877 takes its name today.

The Victorian grandeur and elegance of the original Turkish Bath have been fully restored and enhanced with 21st century technology. Guests can enjoy a traditional Hammam, Sauna, Steam Room, Aromasteam Room, Plunge Pool, and Ice Cave. You can take time out and enjoy refreshments between visits in the relaxation area.

Now open is Hair 1877, an exclusive new hair salon managed by internationally renowned stylist Conrad Blandford.

Victorian Pavilions at the Botanical Gardens
The recently restorated Victorian Botanical Gardens are the perfect oasis for escaping the hustle and bustle of the city!  Browse the tropical plant displays, sample the culinery delights at the Curator's House or simply take in the tranquil scenery with a picnic on the lawns or a stroll through the 1836 landscape.  If you are lucky you may catch the odd open-air cultural event.
