Station Road, Halfway

Station Road WoodlandBluebells in Station Road Woodland

Station Road is a linear strip of 30-year old woodland leading into Mosborough, within what is a very poorly wooded area of south-east Sheffield.

The woodland is bordered on two sides by roadways and on the third by Council depot fencing. In spite of it’s steepness, the woodland is used as a green link to adjoining residential areas.

It includes an old hedgerow running parallel to the road and has a wonderful covering of bluebells in spring.

A new 5 year Draft Management Plan has been written.  The attached maps show the site, how it is now and proposals for the future.

Proposals included the installation of a new woodland footpath, signage, tree thinning (to let in more light and allow woodland plants to grow) and general tidying up.  Take a look at the page and see what has been achieved so far.

Once improved, we hope the site will be more accessible for walking, public events and educational activites.
