What we do
The South Ranger Team provides a year round ranger service to the South Area Panel greenspaces of Sheffield. This includes our City Parks: Millhouses Park; Graves Park and Ecclesall Woods. We also support dedicated project staff working on:
  • Gleadless Valley Local Nature Reserve
  • Walking the Way to Health project in the south west of the city
 
We support a number of local community and environmental groups, along with partnership working with other organisations.
 
Who we are
We are a small team of 4 permanent rangers, 2 project rangers and currently 2 assistant rangers training with the team. We are based in Greenhill Park, Low Edges.
 
Recent Work
Recent work has included:
  • Supporting improvements to the Round Walk
  • A programme of events in various parks and greenspaces throughout the year
  • Ongoing maintenance in greenspaces
  • Delivering environmental education experiences to primary school children and out of school clubs
  • Developing Health Walks in the south west of the city
  • Taking an active part at the cities major events
  • Actively managing valuable grassland and woodland habitats
