East Sheffield Green & Open Spaces Strategy

Green spaces and people in East Sheffield

This page provides access to and information about the East Sheffield Green and Open Spaces Strategy.

Regeneration activity and Housing Market Renewal (HMR) in East Sheffield is creating an environment for radical change. This presents a key opportunity to not only adapt green spaces in the vicinity of specific developments, but to address in a strategic fashion the revitalisation of green and open spaces in the area as a whole.

In 2007, the city-wide Green and Open Space Strategy was initiated.  At the same time it was recognised that a more detailed approach might be necessary in particular areas to take into account the local context.

The preparation of a Green and Open Spaces Strategy for East Sheffield was commissioned by the East Sheffield Regeneration team to support planning and development as part of the HMR programme. The East Sheffield Area Development Framework (the East ADF) which this Strategy covers, extends to include the neighbourhoods of Burngreave, Fir Vale, Darnall, Attercliffe and Tinsley.

The Strategy should allow planners and developers, community forums and site managers to contribute to a coherent approach to the enhancement of green and open spaces and support the vision for transformational change in East Sheffield.

Following stakeholder consultation in May 2008, the East Sheffield Green and Open Spaces Strategy has been published and can now be downloaded here in pdf format (see below).

The maps which support the Strategy are also available to download (see below).
