Events in Parks and Countryside
Orienteering, outdoor theatre, community fetes and carnivals, film festivals, music performances, fun fairs, hot air balloon launches, play-schemes, blood donor sessions, plant sales, multicultural festivals, cross country runs, fund raising fun runs and sponsored walks are just some of the hundreds of events and activities that are put on by groups and organisations in Sheffield's parks and green spaces throughout the year.
During 2009 there were well over 500 events held in Sheffield's parks and green spaces, many of these were fund-raising events and over £100,000 is raised annually for charities and other worthy causes.
The Parks and Countryside Events Team also organises a programme of major outdoor events in parks which includes Cliffhanger, Sheffield Fayre and Art in the Gardens amongst others.
In addition to the events held in parks and green spaces, other events take advantage of the beautiful countryside that falls within the city boundary and beyond. These include guided walks, bike rides and camping events led by the Parks and Countryside Ranger Service.
In addition to running their own programme of events in parks, green spaces and beyond, the Ranger Service also works closely with 'friends of' and other community groups to improve the local environment by organising activity days. Full details of all Ranger events are in the Ranger Events booklet which is available to download from the Ranger Service web page.
A list of all events scheduled to take place in Sheffield's parks and green spaces is available to download from the bottom of this page.

New Events
The Parks and Countryside Events Team welcomes enquiries from groups and organisations interested in organising new events in Sheffield's parks and green spaces, especially those that benefit the community and our environment, so please contact us to discuss your ideas. All events on land managed by Parks and Countryside must be approved by the Events Team through their application process to ensure that it will be safely run and doesn't clash with any other events or activity.
Event applications must be made a minimum of 8 weeks before your proposed event is to take place, please contact the Community Events Co-ordinator to discuss your event ideas. A provisional booking can then be made and an application form and other information sent to you. The Community Events Co-ordinator will also be able to support you with information, guidance and advice.
Smaller events such as a community picnic which have little or no impact on the space may not need an application, however, always check with the Community Events Co-ordinator first, who will want to make sure that your activity will not clash with any other activities taking place.
A leaflet containing useful information on planning and organising community events is available to download for prospective organisers.
