Park Regeneration Projects
We are working with many partners to regenerate and improve lots of parks and open spaces across the city.

Current Projects
Weston Park
Weston Park has recently been awarded £2,060,000 by the Heritage Lottery Fund and restoration work started in March 2007. Improvements to the park will range from the restoration of the bandstand and the lake, to the installation of new gates and fencing, improvements to the path network and repairs to the historic monuments.

Darnall Green Spaces Regeneration Project
The Darnall Green Spaces Regeneration Project began in 2004 after funding from Objective One. Single Regeneration Budget and the Neighbourhood Renewal Fund was secured as part of the Darnall Community Action Plan. The project, previously known as the High Hazels Park Project, is now working on the regeneration of 5 sites:

Three Parks Programme
The Three Parks Programme works in partnership with local people to improve and regenerate:
- Foxhill Park
The play facilities in Colley Park have recently been completed. Consultation on a new masterplan for Parson Cross Park and Tongue Gutter will take place over summer 2007.

Manor Fields Park
Since 1999 £2.5million has been invested in improvements to the site. This has been used mainly to secure the site from cars, produce a surfaced path network, provide new opportunities for play, provide new allotment facilities and manage the water on site creatively.

Completed Projects
Hillsborough Park
During 2005 - 2006 the old bowling pavilion was extended and improved to create a sports pavilion for the whole community, the playground was also improved and enlarged and a ‘figure of eight’ running track was created in the park. The improvements were funded by Active England and totalled £890,000. During 2007 the restoration plans for the coach house were developed. Norfolk Heritage Park
A seven year project to restore the park was completed in 2004. Improvements include 2 new playgrounds, a multi-purpose community building, and a new sports pavilion. Heritage features such as the park entrance lodges and the Granville Road gas lamp have also been restored. The project has mainly been funded through the Heritage Lottery Fund.

Sheffield Botanical Gardens
The restoration of the Botanical Gardens is a major project totalling £6.31million. The historically important buildings and structures in the gardens, including the glass pavilions, have now been fully restored. The garden areas have been replanted in keeping with the original Victorian layout.

Cholera Monument Grounds
The Cholera Monument has been rebuilt and is now lit at night. There have also been improvements to the footpath network, furniture and planting. A range of artwork and interpretation has been designed with the local community. For more information see the Cholera Monument Grounds development page.
Tinsley Green (Recreation Ground) and Family Centre
Major work has been carried out to regenerate this green space in the east of Sheffield, including new entrances, better sports facilities and a new play area. The new Family Centre has childcare provision in conjunction with Sure Start, as well as a community café, activity rooms and changing rooms.
