About Highfields Adventure Playground
Highfields Adventure Playground is located in Mount Pleasant Park, Sheffield. It offers opportunities to play outside in an adventure area on swings, slides, zip wire etc. Indoor areas provide opportunities for arts and crafts, board games, table tennis and pool and most activities are free of charge.
Highfields Adventure playground provides a unique play experience for a wide range of children from diverse backgrounds and cultures. The playground is open access giving children the freedom to come and go as they please.
Parents/carers are welcome to stay and participate in the activities or just sit and watch with a cup of tea. Experienced staff are on hand to assist the children if needed.
The children are free to choose which activities they would like to do. Many activities are initiated by the children, using the playground in a way to suit them. All the play structures outside are built by the staff, volunteers and children.
The staff offer support and encouragement for children to try new experiences and gain confidence in a friendly and safe environment.
Activities include:
- Arts and crafts
- Painting, drawing, clay, woodwork, chalk, hot beads, jewellery, collages, plaster of paris, face painting, candle making, mosaics, leather work, mask making, sewing
- Sand and water, outdoor structures, competitions, board games, jigsaws, computer games, outdoor games, music and drama, circus skills, puzzles and quizzes
- Table tennis, bar football, football, rounders, cricket, hockey, volleyball, basketball
