Cleansing Monitoring
As part of the Council's Key Performance Indicators, City Centre Management produce a quarterly report regarding the cleansing standards around the city centre. This includes monitoring litter, fly-posting, graffiti and detritus to Best Value Performance Indicator 199a (BVPI199a) standards set by the Department for Environment, Food & Rural Affairs (DEFRA) and EnCams who run the Keep Britain Tidy campaign.
The targets that we aim for are Grades A to D; A = No litter or refuse, and D = Heavy litter, with significant accumulations. The documents below are the Cleansing Specification for the city centre, which sets out our standards, and a map showing the city centre zones.
To date, the cleanliness of the city centre remains at 95% which is well above the National target of 75% as set out by DEFRA.
