Our Vision
To create and sustain a quality City Centre environment that is clean, safe, vibrant and welcoming. To work in partnership with the retail, business and leisure sectors and the public who live, work, or choose to visit Sheffield.
Key Aims
- To ensure that all public space in the city centre is clean, welcoming, free from litter and grafitti and maintained to a high standard.
- To provide a safe environment and create a sense of wellbeing for the city centre communities.
- To provide a visible pro-active presence on the streets, by managing the Safer City Centre Partnership, which includes City Centre Ambassadors and South Yorkshire Police.
- To enhance the experience for visitors by making the city centre easy to access and navigate, and providing a calendar of events and entertainment.
- To ensure that information about city centre services and attractions is easily available through the tourist information centre, Council first point receptions, on street maps and the City Centre Ambassadors.
- To market and publicise the city centre in a pro-active and organised way locally, nationally and internationally.
- To manage and publicise the promotional opportunities within the city centre.
- To regularly monitor performance against national targets and other large cities.
- To create a sense of pride and ownership in the city centre for all users.
- To manage major public spaces such as the Winter Garden, Peace Gardens, Sheaf Square and Barkers Pool.
- The operation of a 'Help desk' facility to deal with all city centre issues, which is operational between 9.00am - 5.00pm Monday-Friday.
