Recycling
Every year the amount of rubbish we produce increases. The Sheffield Council is commited to increasing the amount we recycle and reducing the amount that goes into landfill sites.
This page contains information about how visitors, businesses and residents in the city centre can recycle their waste.
Visitors
The City Centre Management Team and the Sheffield Cathedral have teamed up and installed recycling bins in the area outside the Cathedral. The bins have four sections, for glass, paper, plastics and aluminium cans, which are clearly labelled to make them as easy to use as possible.
The bins will hopefully encourage visitors outside the Cathedral to not only throw away their waste but to recycle it as well, helping to make the city centre a cleaner, greener place. If the recycling bins are a success, Sheffield Council will look at the possibility of installing more in other popular public spaces in the city centre.
