Safer City Centre Partnership

The City Centre Management Team works in partnership with South Yorkshire Police to form the Safer City Centre Partnership.

The partnership brings together the City Ambassadors Team and a team of Police. The police team includes a Police Inspector and a team of Police Officers and Police Community Support Officers (PCSOs).

The partnership's vision is to create and maintain a safe and clean working and living environment in Sheffield city centre, helping the city to achieve its vision of being recognised as a city of european significance.

The key aims of the partnership are to:
  • effectively manage community safety in a coordinated way.
  • reduce crime, disorder and anti social behaviour.
  • reduce fear of crime.
  • improve the quality of life for city centre residents.
  • promote community involvement and public reassurance.
  • provide a highly visible and easy to access service.

The partnership is managed by the council's City Centre Management Team and South Yorkshire Police. A tasking team allocates incoming jobs to the appropriate Officer or Ambassador.

This innovative way of working means that the teams can work efficiently together, react quickly, and deliver an effective city centre service.
