Safer City Centre Partnership

The Sheffield Council’s City Centre Management Team (CCMT) work in partnership with the South Yorkshire Police (SYP) to form the Safer City Centre Partnership (SCCP) that covers the city centre Safer Neighbourhood Area (SNA).
 
The SCCP brings together members of the CCMT including City Ambassadors Team and the South Yorkshire Police including one Police Inspector, and a team of Police Officers and Police Community Support Officers (PCSO).
 
The vision of the SCCP is to create and maintain a safe and clean working and living environment in Sheffield city centre and to help Sheffield achieve its vision of being recognised as a city of european significance.
 
The key aims of the SCCP are to effectively manage community safety in a coordinated way, to reduce crime, disorder and anti social behaviour with the outcome of lowering fear of crime and improving the quality of life for those living in the area. The partnership also aims to promote communitiy involvemnt and public reassurance by providing a highly visisble and easy to access service.
 
Management of the SCCP team and operations is undertaking by representatives from both the CCMT and SYP.  A tasking team quickly allocate incoming jobs to the City Centre Ambassadors, Police Officers and PCSO’s as appropriate. This allows the teams to work efficiently together, enabling them to react quickly to situations, provide appropriate follow up action and to deliver effective coverage for the whole city centre area.
