10 ways your library can save you money

National Year of Reading
  1. We all know that libraries are free …. Don’t we?  And we’re more than just books …

  2. If you borrowed 2 books & 2 DVD’s per month, it could save you more than £30.

  3. Planning a holiday or day trip?  Why buy a map or travel guide when you can borrow one from your library.

  4. Musically minded? Why not borrow cd’s from as little as 50p per week?  Whether its pop, classical, world music, or jazz there’s something to suit all tastes.

  5. Love film? Then you’ll love this – DVD’s from just £1 per week, and include the latest blockbusters, drama’s, world cinema, Bollywood, comedy, kids stuff and much much more.

  6. Keeping kids entertained can be expensive – check out our free events across all our 28 community libraries and the Central Library.  We have regular events and activities, free of charge.  Look for these and more on EventSheffield or contact your local library.

  7. Something for jobseekers – take a look at our jobseeking page, or use some of our CV support material.

  8. If you don’t have your own computer – don’t worry.  We have over 200 computers with internet access in our 28 community libraries and Central Library.  Simply ring or call into your local library or Central Library and book for up to an hour.

  9. Want to change your lifestyle and save yourself money? We offer lots of information on business and consumer issues, so whether you want advice on patenting your new invention or information on the most economic washing machine, fridge or car etc.

  10. Other ways to save you money –
  • Wanting to learn a new language? We have a selection of books and courses in audio formats.
  • Why not take up a hobby that doesn’t cost you any money, eg you could search your family tree and have free access to ancestry.com, alternatively look for local clubs and groups you can join by using Help Yourself.
