Reservations
If an item is not available you can request it. It may be that it is on loan to someone else or not in stock in Sheffield Libraries.
You can ask a member of staff to do this for you or, if the item is in stock, place the request yourself by using one of the library's Public Access Catalogues (OPACS), or use the online library catalogue.
You will need to have your library card and PIN (Personal Identification Number) for this, please ask a member of staff if you do not know your PIN or fill in our online PIN request form.
If the item is in stock in Sheffield the request will be placed immediately and you will be notified by mail as soon as a copy becomes available.
It the item is not in stock a decision will be made to either borrow the item from another library authority or to buy a copy. If we are unable to obtain a copy we will notify you by mail. More information about suggesting items for purchase.
There is no charge for this service, unless the material you are requesting is obtained from other library services then a £3 charge will be made.
