Local Information
The results of Sheffield City Council's community profiling project identifies the key experiences of black and minority ethnic communities.
Sheffield Help Yourself lists local organisations who work with refugees and asylum seekers. The database is maintained by Sheffield Information Service, part of Sheffield Libraries, Archives and Information.
Receives government funding to support asylum seekers who come to Sheffield under the National Asylum Support Service (NASS). The Asylum Seekers Team have social workers and support workers to help asylum seekers live in the city. Download their Welcome to Sheffield leaflets from the bottom of this page.

Housing
Part of the Home Office and is responsible for Immigration Control. The Border and Immigration Agency considers applications for permission to stay, citizenship and asylum. An application for asylum in the UK has to be made through the Border and Immigration Agency.
Asylum support provides accommodation and financial help for asylum seekers whilst their claim is being considered by the Border and Immigration Agency.

Aims to promote knowledge of black history, promote the positive contributions to British society and heighten confidence and pride in cultural heritage.
The British Library holds a wealth of material relating to the British West Indies.
