Aims & Objectives

All practical archive conservation should be visible, reversible and sympathetic to the original format.

Conservation seeks to prolong the life of the item and the information contained in it, with as little physical alteration to the original as possible.

Archive conservation also deals with preventative and remedial measures thus incorporating correct handling and storage of holdings.

Credentials

The conservators currently employed by Sheffield Libraries, Archives & Information are registered and accredited members of the professional body - the Society of Archivists.
