Community Information Resource - Help Yourself
Sheffield Information Service maintains a database of approximately 5,000 voluntary and community groups and related statutory services covering a wide range of subjects including:-
- Leisure, sport, education, religion, health, community care, community businesses, environmental issues, housing, advice services, politics etc.
And features services and groups for specific sections of the population:
- Women, children, the elderly, people with disabilities, gay people and people from ethnic minority communities.
We can give you details of your local yoga group, badminton club, church, hospital, support group, housing association, neighbourhood advice centre, MP, community transport group etc, or perhaps you'd like to find a womens health group in Sheffield or an information service for children or a club for the hearing impaired. We can give you these and much more.
You can access the information via the Help Yourself website or call into the Central Library.
The Help Yourself website is provided in partnership with the Department of Information Studies at Sheffield University.
Our staff will be pleased to help you find the information you want. The information is available in printed lists, for which we charge 10p to help cover the costs of photocopying.
We also publish the Help Yourself Directory based on the health, community care and social welfare sections of the database in co-operation with our partners Voluntary Action Sheffield and Sheffield Health Information and Library Service.
