We have general directories such as:

Kellys Industrial Directory

The classified section has products and services listed alphabetically and then gives the company name, address and contact details.

Kompass Products and Services Register

This has a very detailed classification system, for identifying suppliers, distributors, manufacturers, exporters and importers of specific products. Limited information can be accessed free of charge from the Kompass website, but the library subscription allows more specific search criteria and gives more detailed company information.

Kellys

This can be accessed through the Kellys website.

Yellow Pages

Printed copies of Yellow Pages are available for the whole of the UK. You can also access Yell.com website. Access to worldwide yellow pages is available through Infobel.

General

Askalix provides searches for businesses, products and services.

To help you identify a directory for the product or service you are researching, there is a printed list of subjects and titles available in the library, or you can check yourself by using our library catalogue.

Databases

FAME

A database providing detailed financial analysis and corporate information for UK and Irish companies. The database can be searched by variable criteria such as activity description, SIC code, number of employees, location, turnover, date of incorporation, directors name etc to create lists of companies.

Kompass Worldwide

A database of companies worldwide, it can be searched using a variety of criteria, including keyword, the detailed Kompass product codes, and activity eg producer, distributor, importer, exporter etc. Although limited information is available on the Kompass website, advanced searching options, and more detailed company reports can be accessed through the library subscription.

Associations

Some organisations produce listings of their members and products, such as the Gauge and Toolmakers Association Buyers Guide. Check our library catalogue to find details of the ones we have in stock.

Others make them available to non members via their website, such as the Manufacturing Technologies Association and the Institute of Chartered Accountants.

To help you identify a trade association, we have the Directory of British Associations, or you can use the Trade Association Forum website.

We also have a number of Chamber of Commerce directories, and these often include classified listings. Sometimes the lists of members and products are made available on the Chamber of Commerce website.

Exhibition Catalogues

We have a limited range of catalogues from trade fairs and exhibitions. The content varies, some give basic address and telephone details others give product information and personnel.
