Use xreferplus - A giant online reference library providing free 24/7 access to a selection of reference books, including encyclopaedias, dictionaries and thesauri.  Subjects cover a wide range and include business, geography, history, language, law, science and technology.

 

Use KnowUK and NewsUK - two online reference libraries providing free access to over 100 reference books and a variety of national and local newspapers.  Books include Civil Service Year Book, Crockford's Clerical Directory, European Parliamentary Biographies, Scottish Parliamentary Biographies, Welsh Assembly Biographies, UK Register of Expert Witnesses.  Newspapers include the Daily Mail, Financial Times, The Guardian, The Sun, The Independent, The Daily Telegraph, The Times, Scotsman, and their Sunday equivalents.  Also a selection of regional newspapers including the Sheffield Star, Manchester Evening News and London Evening Standard.
