Annual name indexes to grants of probate.
What dates do they cover?
1858-1934.
Where can I see them?
Sheffield Archives, 52 Shoreham Street.
What format are they in?
Microfiche.
Do I need to order them in advance of my visit?

Can I get copies?
Copies of post 1858 wills can be requested from the York Probate Registry, Castle Chambers, Clifford Street, York YO1 9RG, tel 01904 666777. Name indexes are produced annually which lists:
- names (alphabetically)
- address where will was made
- occupation
- date and place of death
- details of executors
- value of the estate
For 1935 and beyond, indexes are available from the Probate Sub Registry at the Law Courts, Sheffield.
