Position Statement

Library Position Statements were introduced in 2003/4 for a period of 2 years, in response to guidance from the Department of Culture, Media and Sport and the 'Framework for the Future' report. They set out how library authorities should be performing and provided authorities with a score in relation to the following:

  • Corporate Vision: Vision, ambition and capacity for the public library service

  • Response to Framework for the Future: Books, Reading and Learning, Digital Citizenship, Community and Civic Values, Building capacity to deliver transformation

  • Public Library Standards: Public Library Standards, Public Library Targets

  • Resources:  Spaces, Stock, Staffing, ICT

Sheffield achieved a 'Good' rating and was therefore exempt from the production of a Position Statement in 2005.
