Donations
Sheffield Libraries Archives and Information Service welcome donations of material that will enhance our Collections
At the moment, we are only interested in acquiring paperback romances that are in good condition for our Lending Services.
Our Special Interest services are also interested in donated material, especially the Local Studies Library. In this case, the content of the material is more important than its condition. We are particularly keen to acquire material with a local connection, community publications and out of print items.
We are also interested in adding appropriate material which would enhance our Sports, Climbing and Mountaineering collection.
In addition, we have a list of items that we would like to add to our stock. Please see our ‘Can you help us improve our service’ page for more information.
Before being accepted, items will be assessed using our normal selection criteria and they may be placed in any of our libraries or be moved to others as required.
If they are not required they may be disposed of, or sold, and once donated they become Sheffield Libraries, Archives and Information Service property.
We do not normally accept
- Items in poor physical condition
- Material which contravenes our selection policies
What do you need to do?
You can take material to any public library in Sheffield for consideration. Staff will decline items that are not suitable as disposal incurs cost. This allows you the opportunity to donate them elsewhere, for example, to a charity shop.
We do not normally collect items from donors.
For more information Please contact your local library or our Collections and Reader Development Manager, Alison Jobey, via e-mail at: alison.jobey@sheffield.gov.uk.
