Online applications

After the vacancy closing date, we provide the recruiting manager with your anonymised application with your personal details and equal opportunities removed.

If you do not have access to the internet, please do go to your local library, job centre or even ask friends or family to provide you with a connection to our site.

If you are applying for the first time and do not currently work for the Council, you will need to register with us.  If you are an existing employee of the Council, you should apply using MyHR, as your personal details will be already saved onto your application.

Your application

Preparation is key. Before you start, gather all the information that you'll need, including details of your academic achievements, employment history and contact information for your referees.

Make sure you read the instructions carefully to ensure that you complete the correct sections of the form. You must submit your application before midnight on the closing date.

Some tips for your application:

  • use the job description and person specification as a guide to provide examples of your specific skills and qualities in the supporting statement section
  • if the advert refers you to any other websites with further information about the role, it is important to read this before submitting your application
  • check your registered email address (including your junk/spam folders) regularly as this is how we keep in touch with you about your application
