Westfield

Outline map of Sheffield neighbourhood boundaries with the Westfield neighbourhood highlighted.
The Westfield estate was developed as part of the "Mosborough Plan" on former agricultural land during the 1970s. Located 8 miles south-east of the city centre, housing on the estate is predominantly council-owned stock.

The neighbourhood is split into three zones, with residential land use to the northwest, industrial and commercial premises at the centre, and open space and agricultural land adjacent to the railway and River Rother to the south-east.

There is a good range of local amenities on the estate, which has a central open space where the local primary school, community room, health centre and shops are situated.

A significant part of the public sector portion of this estate falls within a "Closing the Gap" area. The estate, along with parts of Waterthorpe and Halfway, also benefits from ESF Objective 1 funding as a "Pioneer area".

The Westfield Centre is designated a Transformational Project that seeks to develop and enhance the environment.
