Oughtibridge

Outline map of Sheffield neighbourhood boundaries with the Oughtibridge neighbourhood highlighted.
Oughtibridge, in the bottom of the Upper Don Valley, lies around 5½ miles north-west of Sheffield city centre, about halfway between the city and Stocksbridge. The neighbourhood is in the Parish of Bradfield.

The village grew up as a focus for local farming communities and continued to grow with demand for homes for workers in the various industries located in the Upper Don Valley since the 1800s.

Oughtibridge has a mix of private and social housing. New private housing developments have caused it to grow rapidly in recent years, placing further pressure on local services, including schools, healthcare and roads.

The village is a mile and a half beyond the Middlewood Supertram terminus and is served by a principal bus route between Sheffield and Stocksbridge. Congestion in peak hours and heavy traffic though the village at other times remain an issue.

Residents enjoy ready access to public green space and to the open countryside. Key issues for the area are traffic management, the environment, facilities for young people and access to services.
