Meersbrook

Outline map of Sheffield neighbourhood boundaries with the Meersbrook neighbourhood highlighted.
Meersbrook neighbourhood lies immediately to the south of Meersbrook Park, and 2 miles south of the city centre. Set back from the arterial Chesterfield Road, the historic route of Derbyshire Lane runs from north to south through the area.

The western half of the neighbourhood is predominantly residential, while the remainder is dominated by open space and parkland in the form of Lees Hall Golf Club, Sheffield University Sports Ground and the Coneygreeve and Carr Woods.

Housing is almost exclusively Victorian terracing in the immediate vicinity of Meersbrook Park, while further up the hill, inter-war semi-detached properties predominate. Traffic calming has been carried out on a number of Meersbrook's minor roads.

The Victorian-era Meersbrook Park is the most striking feature of the neighbourhood, with its steep slopes and far-reaching views across the city. Bishop House is Sheffield’s oldest timber frame building and houses a small museum at the southern end of the park.

Local shopping areas exist on Derbyshire Lane and Lees Hall Avenue, while further services are available on Chesterfield Road to the west. Nearby, Newfield Secondary School is being rebuilt as part of the 'Schools for the Future' Programme.
