Ecclesfield
Ecclesfield lies around 5 miles north of the city centre on the old Sheffield to Barnsley road. Originally a separate village, Ecclesfield has spread in recent years, blurring the boundary with urban Sheffield.
The neighbourhood has a mix of housing tenures, with a small shopping centre and a park near the old village centre. Development of new housing has lead to increased pressure on services and issues around the need for affordable housing to be provided.
With good access to the M1 motorway and the Trans-Pennine A628 route, Ecclesfield enjoys excellent regional transport links, but travel into the city centre by car or bus is often affected by heavy traffic.
There are concerns locally about lack of provision for young people with youth nuisance problems reported to be centred on local shops and the park.
Other key local issues are community safety (although recorded crime is low), traffic management and the environment.
