Post Offices

Council Leader Cllr Paul Scriven with local people outside a Sheffield Post Office
Here you'll find information relating to our ongoing work to support the long-term sustainability of the Post Office network in the city:

Background Information

In November 2008, 15 Post Offices shut in Sheffield as the result of Post Office Ltd’s closure programme. This was despite a huge campaign involving local people, backed by us, to stop the closures.

Since then, Post Office Ltd have given us the go-ahead to look in detail at nine of the branches that closed to see what can be done to keep any of them open.   A cross-party working group, chaired by Council Leader Cllr Paul Scriven, is investigating whether they could operate in the future as a business and what kind of customer support they could attract.

The nine post offices that are being looked at are: Crookes Valley Road, Hatfield House Lane, High Wincobank, Oakbrook Road, Park Grange, Parkhead, Shalesmoor, Southey and The Moor.
