Volunteering Opportunities with local voluntary and community groups
Listed below are current volunteering opportunities with some voluntary and community sector organisations in Sheffield. You will need to contact the organisation direct for further details of what is on offer and what is involved.
Do you like driving? Do you like working with people?
Manor Community Transport provide minibuses for community groups and are looking for volunteer drivers. They have 3 buses based at Fairleigh, which are equipped with tail lifts and can accommodate wheelchairs. Some groups are unable to provide their own driver and need a volunteer driver to help. You need to have a full clean driving licence, be willing to have a Criminal Records Bureau (CRB) disclosure and attend a half day minibus driver awareness training course. If you have time to spare please contact Liz Fox at Manor Community Transport on 265 4275 after 1pm weekdays.
Are you a computer expert?
Sheffield Pensioners Action Group campaigns for better rights for pensioners. They would like to move into the 21st Century with an up-to-date communications system at their premises in Castle Market. They are looking for someone over 50 to join the group and help with their IT. If you fit the bill please contact Hilda Sables on 275 6319 between 10am and 2pm Fridays.
Make some time for victims of crime
Victim Support South Yorkshire is looking for volunteers to support their Community Based Services in Barnsley, Doncaster, Rotherham and Sheffield. Full training is provided and expenses are paid. They also run a court based Witness Service that supports victims and witnesses giving evidence in criminal cases. For further information contact 0114 275 8411 or email admin.vss@vssy.co.uk.
If nothing above fits the bill, why not consider contacting Voluntary Action Sheffield's Volunteer Centre.
