Policy Support Team
The Policy Support Team provides a policy and information service to partnership managers, the Neighbourhood Renewal and Partnership Service and the wider Council. We contribute to the development of the partnership strategies and work towards making improvements in how the Service communicates.
The team provides data and analysis which the Council and its partners use to make decisions, plan action and improve performance. The team also improves the way the Service operates internally and with its partners. The main work areas of the team are:
- Developing and updating the Sheffield Neighbourhood Information System (SNIS)
- Managing the Regional Small Area Information Project
- Crime and disorder analysis, including anti-social behaviour
- Monitoring racist incidents and community cohesion and supporting subsequent decisons
- The Compact that the Council has with the voluntary and community sector
- Co-ordinating work towards achieving Charter Mark status for the Service and developing our customer focus
These are some questions that we are asked most often:
Where can I get statistics about the city and its neighbourhoods?
For city-level information, see facts and figures about Sheffield.
For neighbourhood-level information, see the Sheffield Neighbourhood Information System.
If this doesn't tell you what you need to know, or you need some explanation, please contact us.
What are the boundaries of Sheffield's neighbourhoods?
All the neighbourhood boundaries are shown at street level in the Neighbourhood Information pages.
Where can I get statistics about crime and disorder?
The Policy Support Team can supply this, but some information is restricted. Please contact us to discuss what you need and what level of detail we can share with you.
Where can I find out about the Council's Compact with the voluntary and community sector?
The Policy Support Team does work to support the Compact. All the information is on the Compact webpages.
Can I have some information about the systems the Policy Support Team uses?
The Policy Support Team has developed several innovative and successful systems to support demands for statistics and information. We are always happy to share best practice - please contact us to discuss it.
